System Requirements

  • Windows: 64-bit Windows 10 or later. Linux (tarball / script): Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian, or Fedora x64 for published Linux bundles. Docker: a host with Docker (Linux, WSL2 with Ubuntu, NAS, or macOS with Docker Desktop). See the blog for bootstrap options, private registry, and source-build notes.
  • Minimum 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended for transcoding)
  • 500 MB free disk space for the application
  • Network connection for remote access, account sync, metadata, and optional AI features

Quick Start

  1. Pick your server: Windows installer from the card above; Linux one-line script or manual .tar.gz; Docker one-liner or bundle downloads in the Docker card (blog covers variants and env vars).
  2. Run the setup wizard and point it to your media folders
  3. Muvo scans your files and fetches rich metadata automatically
  4. Download a player (or use the web app) from the Media Players tab and sign in to stream
  5. On Fire TV or NVIDIA Shield, use the Downloader code on the Media Players tab in the card next to Android, or sideload the same APK as Android TV.
